| Swet Bhairav in the Kathmandu Durbar Square, Nepal. Swet Bhairav is a fierce form of Lord Shiva, a revered deity in Nepalese culture. The gilded mask is normally hidden behind a wooden screen and is only fully unveiled to the public for a ten-day period during the annual Indra Jatra festival. The statue was built in 1852 BS (1795 AD) by King Rana Bahadur Shah. During the Indra Jatra festival, rice liquor is siphoned from a pipe in the statue's mouth as an offering to devotees. |
