| The seismograph (Chinese:å¼ è¡¡åŰ动仪)was invented by Zhang Heng, an outstanding Chinese scientist in ancient times. It is the first instrument for automaticall detecting and recording earthquakes.It was 1,700 years earlier the similar ones in Europe.Its structure mainly consists of columns and lever assembly. It is still a basic element in the modern seismograph design. |
