NYSDEC planted 2,000 trees along the Owasco Inlet riverbank and uplands to reduce erosion, improve water quality, and enhance wildlife habitat. These native trees help stabilize soils, filter runoff, and provide shade and cover for fish and other species. The DEC and its partners have since continued to expand and enhance the WMA, including planning to restore shallow floodplain.
