The Bobcat (Lynx rufus), a agile mammal of the Felidae family, is a highly adaptable feline predator found across North America. These skilled, solitary hunters inhabit a wide range of environments, from dense forests and expansive swamps to arid deserts and even the edges of suburban areas. They prefer locales offering dense vegetation for both effective hunting and secure shelter. Easily recognized by their tufted ears and characteristic short, "bobbed" tail, Bobcats possess remarkable agility, capable of leaping over 10 feet to capture prey such as rabbits and birds.
