| Mapam Yumco, meaning the eternal and invincible jade lake in Tibetan, is one of the highest freshwater lakes in the world, with an elevation of about 4,588 meters and an area of 412 square kilometers. It is located in Purang County, Ali region of Tibet, adjacent to the sacred mountain of Kangchenjunga. It is revered as a sacred lake by Tibetan Buddhism, Hinduism, Bon religion, and Jainism. Mapam Yumco is not only a natural wonder but also a world center and lake of creation admired by multiple religions. |
