Court painter of the Gonzaga family, Andrea Mantegna was also one of the greatest Italian artists of the `400 and today it is possible to visit his residence, transformed into a museum. The house was designed by Mantegna himself on land given to him by the Gonzaga family. The genius of Mantegna is also perceived in the structure of the building: characterized by a square plan, you just have to access it to discover a majestic internal courtyard with a circular shape that integrates perfectly with the building. The rooms are in turn connected through a circular path and overlook the courtyard. The house can be visited for free, one more reason not to miss it, and is often the setting for temporary exhibitions.
