Mi Langbiang (Grey-crowned Crocias) and Cherry Blossoms in Spring. The Langbiang Mi (Crocias langbianis Gyldentolpe, 1939), also known as the Ba Mountain Mi, is one of the rarest endemic bird species in Vietnam and the world. This small bird is associated with the Lang Biang mountain range (Lam Dong province).The Langbiang Mi belongs to the Timaliidae family, Passeriformes order. It is a medium-sized bird, about 22 cm long. This species was first described in 1939 by the Swedish nobleman Count Gyldenstolpe, named after the mountain range where it was discovered â Lang Biang (also known as Ba Mountain). Since then, records of this species have been extremely rare. After its first description, it wasn't until 1994 that scientists rediscovered the Langbiang Mi in the Chu Yang Sin forest area â after more than 56 years of absence.The Langbiang Mi is an endemic species of Vietnam, previously known only in the Da Lat plateau (Lam Dong province) and the surrounding forests of Dak Lak province. Its habitat is broadleaf evergreen forests, at altitudes ranging from 900 to 1,450 meters above sea level.
