The gateway of Saint Mary (Arco de Santa Maria) in Burgos, Spain. In the middle ages this was one the twelve city gates, then destroied and rebuilt in the 16th century in honor of Holy Roman Emperor Charles V when he visited the city. The statues represent the emperor and other people important to the city like El Cid. The latin inscriptions describe the statues
