The Han Huangfu Ding is a bronze vessel from the late Western Zhou Dynasty, unearthed in 1933 from a Western Zhou bronze ware hoard in Shangkang Village, Fufeng County, Shaanxi Province. The ding stands 58 cm tall, with a diameter of 49 cm and a depth of 27 cm, weighing 31.5 kilograms. It features upright ears and hoof-shaped feet, with a slightly outward-bulging abdominal wall, and is decorated with large??? (qie qu patterns) on the rim and abdomen. The interior of the ding is inscribed with 17 characters in three lines, recording that Han Huangfu made a set of dowry ritual vessels for his daughter (or wife). The inscription roughly means: Han Huangfu made a complete set of bronze ritual vessels, including ding, gui, pan, zun, etc., for his daughter (or wife), wishing that these vessels would be treasured by descendants for generations. The Han Huangfu Ding not only showcases the advanced bronze casting techniques of the Western Zhou Dynasty but also provides important information for studying the ritual system of the time.
