was born in Argentina. In the 1950s, one of the leaders of the Cuban Revolution. After its success, he joined the revolutionary government. In 1965, he took part in guerrilla fighting in the Congo. From 1966, he organized guerrilla units in Bolivia. There he was captured and killed. As an ideologist and writer, he created his own original version of guerrilla warfare (foco guerrillero) waged by peasants. His views are called guevarism. He went down in history as the idol of rebellious youth.
