Hemus Motorway, designated A2, is an unfinished motorway in Bulgaria. Almost the entire route of the highway, except for the area around Sofia, is in the territory of Northern Bulgaria. It is planned to connect the capital Sofia with the city of Varna and to duplicate the national roads I-1 from Sofia to Botevgrad, I-3 from Botevgrad to Yablanitsa, I-4 from Yablanitsa to Shumen and I-2 from Shumen to Varna. The European roads E79 from Sofia to Botevgrad, E83 from Botevgrad to Yablanitsa, E772 from Yablanitsa to Shumen and E70 from Shumen to Varna pass and will pass along the highway.
