Chateau de Chillon is the most famous architectural symbol of Switzerland. Located on Lake Geneva (Lake Leman) a few kilometers away from the famous resort town of Montreux, this idylic fortress traces its history as back as the 12th century when it was build strategically to protect the ancient trade route between France and Italy.
