Turkey Vulture, Cathartes aura, live and roost in the Taughannock Falls State Park gorge area. Dozens can be seen clinging to outcrops of rock to rest or sleep. The Turkey Vulture's stomach acid is extremely acidic, so Turkey Vultures can digest just about anything, and uses its sense of smell to locate carrion.
