bronze bell from the set of 65 bianzhong (tuned bells) found in the Tomb of Marquis Yi of Zeng. The tomb dates to around 433 BCE, during the late Spring and Autumn or early Warring States period in China. The complete set of bells weighs 2,500 kg (about 5,500 lbs). Each bell can produce two distinct, perfectly tuned notes depending on where it is struck. Inscriptions on the bells provide significant information about ancient Chinese music theory. The bells are permanently displayed at the Hubei Provincial Museum in Wuhan, China.
