Pictured is an Altar to Chu Văn An, rector of the imperial academy, in the rear building of the Fifth Courtyard of the Temple of Literature in Hanoi, Vietnam. Chu Văn An was a Confucian, teacher, physician and high-ranking mandarin of the Trần Dynasty in Đại Việt. He was born in 1292 and died in 1370. The Imperial Academy was Vietnam`s first national university.
