St Rumboldââ¬â¢s Church serves Pentridge and neighbouring Woodyates. The ministry is shared with the churches in Sixpenny Handley and Gussage St. Andrew.
On the south side of the church are fine examples of table/chest tombs, the earliest dates 1777.
There is also, near the porch, a headstone for another villager, Roland ââ¬ËBeeââ¬â¢ Beaumont. ââ¬ÅOne of the fewââ¬Â. He accounted, among other successes, for 31 V1 doodlebugs during World War 11. After the war he had been the test pilot of the TSR2 supersonic bomber and was the first Britain to fly supersonically.
Another headstone and a plaque inside the church commemorates the links with the family of the poet Robert Browning.
