Loch Lurgainn is in the Assynt region - remote and wild. The shores are covered in gorse and heather with banks of bracken. It is a very quiet and peaceful area. It was the last area of Scotland to have glaciers. The rock type is Torridonian sandstone. The boulders are covered in a wide range of lichens and mosses of interest to botanists.
