The Stuart Highway runs south-north right up the middle of Australia from Port Augusta in South Australia, to Darwin in the Northern Territory. Most of the way, it is running straight through desert or semi-desert country. It is a magnet for tourists and is famous for the road trains which transport all kinds of goods on it.
