Israeli Foreign Minister Yitzhak Shamir and British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher meet in the King David Hotel in Jerusalem on May 25, 1986. Thatcher, the first standing UK Prime Minister to visit Israel was aware that Shamir, as a leader of the Lehi underground, targeted the King David Hotel, which was the British military headquarters in the then Palestine. The Lehi telephoned the British warning them to evacuate because a bombing was imminent. The British failed to do so and scores were killed, 39 years and 11 months before the meeting of Shamir and Thatcher in the same King David Hotel.
