| The Lych Gate of St Nicholas Church Godstone and behind is Church House, former home of the economist E.F. Schumaker 1911-1947. St Nicholas Church Godstone is also the burial place of Pirate and Smuggler John Edward Trenchman ambushed and killed by customs officers in Godstone, Surrey in 1687.
