Branches erect to wide open, strongly overgrown. It tolerates the urban environment and winter cold well. Varieties of ornamental currants are popular garden shrubs, prized for their strongly colored and fragrant flowers in early spring. The species is a hermaphrodite it has male and female organs and is pollinated by bees. It is a shrub that tolerates marine exposure and is therefore suitable for planting in Mediterranean places.
