When I first encountered this little guy, I thought he was a larger bee or even a hornet. The black and yellow on his body reminded me of a bumblebee. This is actually the best way to identify this one. The clearwing hummingbird moth has green on his body with reds or oranges on their body. This is also not to be confused with the hawk moth or the sphinx moth. I love this guys yellow furry body. The tail of this one really made me thing it looked like a flying crayfish or lobster. This picture was taken in the East Coventry nature preserve close to Pottstown in Pennsylvania.
