The specific epithet octopetala derives frae the Greek octo (aicht) an petalon (petal), referrin tae the aicht petals o the flouer, an unuisual nummer in the Rosaceae, whaur five is the normal nummer. However, flouers wi up tae 16 petals an aa occur naiturally. |
