Pictured is a bronze statue of Francesco Carrara by sculptor Augusto Passaglia located in Napoleon Square in Lucca, Italy. Francesco Carrara was born in 1805 and died in 1888. He was a politician and lawyer who was one of the leading death penalty abolition lawyers of the 19th century. This large bronze statue shows Carrara sitting down in a chair. The statue sits atop of a tall granite pedestal and it was unveiled in 1891.
