Modern cannas have it all.  Their large, paddle-shaped leaves vary in color and variegation from cultivar to cultivar.  Many have showy flowers in a variety of colors, and all have a commanding presence in the garden or containers.  Many cultivars exist, including short, medium and tall types.  Rarely bothered by pests, though Japanese beetles may feed on the foliage of some varieties.  Dig the bulbs before the first hard freeze in fall and store the bulbs in a cool, dry place for winter.  Some older varieties may survive local winters when placed in a sheltered location or if their roots are protected with a covering of mulch. Sun:  Full sun for best bloom Water:  Medium moisture Height:  2 feet to 14 feet,
