Looking north along Vicolo del Lupanare in the ancient city of Pompeii. Pompeii was mostly destroyed and buried under 4 to 6 m of ash and pumice in the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. In the street are big stones for reaching the other side, the wheels of cars could passing between the stones.
