An impressive skeleton of a diplodocus stands in the central hall of the American Museum of Natural History in New York. The long neck of this herbivorous dinosaur stretches upward, creating an impressive sight. Diplodocus lived in the Jurassic period, about 154-152 million years ago, and were among the longest-living creatures to ever inhabit the Earth. Their light but strong bones allowed them to support their massive bodies, and their flexible necks helped them to get food from the trees.
