View of Likava Castle ruin surrounded by deep forests in autumn. This castle ruin is wide known because it is believed that it was used as prison for Juraj Janosik, famous Slovak outlaw (Slovak Robin Hood). Likava Castle is located on hill near Likavka village in Liptov region, Slovakia. The Castle was build in 14-th century. It was constructed as guardian fortification on the road to the Orava region and further to Poland. During centuries it was witness of many conflicts. Finally it was destroyed and ruined at the beginning of 18-th century by Austrian Emperor army. In 20-th century it was partially reconstructed and archaeologically preserved.
