A Southeast Asian fruit, commonly known as Gac (Vietnamese), red melon, Baby Jackruit, Spiny Bitter Gourd or Cochinchin Gourd. It is very delicious and has medicinal properties. It is typically served at ceremonial or festive occasions in Vietnam, such as the Vietnamese new year and weddings. The fruit itself becomes a dark orange color upon ripening, and is typically round or oblong. Its exterior skin is covered in small spines while its dark red interior consists of clusters of fleshy pulp and seeds.
