A Blood Moon is a term used to refer to a total lunar eclipse, which happens when the entire Moon falls within the darkest part of Earth's shadow, called the umbra. When the Moon is within the umbra, it will turn a reddish hue, which is why lunar eclipses are sometimes called Blood Moons. March 2025 over Eastern North America.
