Lesser Kestrel Falco naumanni. They usually live in colonies near human settlements. They are found in steppe-like habitats, natural and cultivated meadows and non-intensive cultivation areas. Small settlements, ruins and rock cliffs in steppe areas are its habitat and breeding grounds. It feeds mostly on insects. However, it also feeds on small vertebrates such as small birds, reptiles, rodents and sometimes crabs and worms. The lesser kestrel is a herding predator, unlike the kestrel. It lives in flocks in villages and ruins. It also goes out hunting in groups. The most typical behavior of the lesser kestrel is to hover in the air while looking for prey. It hangs in place by rapidly flapping its wings. If it sees prey on the ground, it dives quickly and attacks.
