Flamingos live in large groups in lakes, salt lakes, or lagoons with stagnant water. They generally eat crabs, shrimp, arthropods such as Artemia, ant larvae, and algae. Thanks to their downward-curved beak, they can extract food even from very difficult environments. The oldest known flamingo lives in a zoo in Australia and is estimated to be 75 years old.
