The enzyme-substrate model, also known as the lock and key model, is a conceptual framework used to describe the interaction between enzymes and their substrates. In this model, enzymes are considered as "locks" and substrates as "keys". Just like a specific key fits into a specific lock, each enzyme has a specific active site that accommodates its substrate(s) in a complementary manner.
