Cupressus sempervirens or sanobar string; English: Mediterranean cypress or Italian cypress, Tuscan cypress, graveyard cypress, or pencil pine is a species of the genus Cupressus, native to the eastern Mediterranean, northeastern Libya, southern Albania, south coast Croatia Dalmatia, southeastern Greece Crete, Rhodes, southern Turkey, Cyprus, northern Egypt, western Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Malta, Italy, western Jordan, as well as the disjunct population in Iran. C. sempervirens is an evergreen coniferous tree of the order Pinales. It grows up to 35 m 115 ft in height, with conical shoots, even branches and loose, hanging branches. [2] They are very long, and some of the trees are said to be over 1000 years old.
