The abridged armilla(Chinese:简仪) was invented by Guo Shoujing, a scientist in Yuan Dynasty. It overcomes shortcomings of the armillary sphere whose loops and rings intercross and are inconvenient for observation .The abridged armilla's loops and rings are built in groups. The structure is reasonable and the fabrication is exquisite. It is a significant innovation in the astronomy history, going far ahead among ancient astronomical instruments in the world. The abridged armilla is divided into two parts equator and horizon. The equator is composed of three loops.Siyou,Baike and Equator while the horizon is composed of two loops,Yinwei and Liyun.
