The Abana was a three masted Norwegian barque, of some 1200 tons, built in 1874, at St Johns, Newfoundland. She was wrecked here at Cleveleys, on the English north west coast on the night of 22nd December 1894, in a Hurricane, en route to Sapelo, Florida for a cargo of timber. All crew were rescued, including a dog and cat, by the heroic Blackpool lifeboat.
