Mistletoe is a genus of parasitic plants from the sandalwood family. These parasitic plants germinate on tree branches and trunks, forming suckers in their tissues, through which they obtain water and mineral salts. The flowers are pollinated by flies. The seeds are dispersed primarily by birds. The shoots form one branch each year, so the age of the plant can be determined by the number of branchings.
