This sculpture is a tribute to native born Athabaskan Walter Harper, who in 1913, at the age of 20, was the first person to reach the peak of Denali in Alaska, which is the tallest peak in North America. He was an avid outdoorsman. This statue is located in the park in downtown Fairbanks, Alaska and was designed by Sculptor Gary Lee Price.The statue is accessible to visitors to touch and appreciate and is close to the Doyon, Limited building.
