The Asian green bee-eater (Merops orientalis), also known as the lesser green bee-eater, is a species of bird in the bee-eater family. It is a resident or short-distance seasonal migrant, and is widely distributed throughout Asia from coastal southern Iran across the Indian subcontinent to Vietnam. It is primarily an insectivore and is found in grasslands, scrubland and woodland, often far from water. Several regional plumage variations are known and several subspecies have been named.
