Entrance gate into the historical ancient complex Chogha Zanbil. Chogha Zanbil (Elamite: Dur Untash) is an ancient Elamite complex in the Khuzestan province of Iran. The place is located about 30km soth-east of Susa and is one of only few existant ziggurats outside of Mesopotamia. Chogha in Bakhtiari means hill. Choga Zanbil means „basket mound“. It was built about 1250 BC by the king Untash-Napirisha. The whole complex was built from mud bricks or occasionally baked bricks and was dedicated to Inshushinak (Insusinak), the bull-god of Susa. Chogha Zanbil became the first Iranian site to be inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List
