| Although the adult Golden crowned sparrow, Zonotrichia atricapilla, has the distinctive gold patch on top of the head, an immature of this species can look like a white sparrow. The patch is a kind of status marker among the flock.
It mainly feeds off of seeds and insects from the ground, it can jump up to get insect when needed.
