Being flexible means the ability to stretch. This micrograph shows the mechanism of elasticity, the elastic fibers shown as black threads in human skin. The stain is called Verheoff's Van Gieson. It was developed by Frederick Herman Verhoeff in 1908. The nuclei are also black and collagen is pinish red.
