Tianzi Wharf is located within the jurisdiction of Renmin Street, Yuexiu District, Guangzhou City, on the southern end of Beijing Road by the river, near the intersection of Yanjiang Middle Road and Beijing Road. Built in the late Ming Dynasty. According to the "First Draft of Guangdong Gazetteer, Volume 38, Bridge" in the 14th year of the Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty (1535), it is recorded that "Tianzi Wharf is located outside the south gate of Zhengnan Gate." It is known that the old site is located on the south side of Jieguan Pavilion on Beijing Road today. In the Qing Dynasty, it was a dedicated dock for officials, and civilian ships were not allowed to dock here. The character 'Tian' originates from the first sentence of the 'Thousand Character Classic', which reads' Heaven and earth are dark and yellow, the universe is primordial '. The word 'Tian' comes first, meaning 'first' and 'greatest'. During the Republic of China period, it was relocated to its current location. It was rebuilt at its current location in 1964. It was rebuilt again in 1995. Tianzi Wharf is the earliest wharf dedicated to berthing ships in Guangzhou, and also the longest used the Pearl River Ferry Terminal in Guangzhou.
