This train is owned by the Great Southern Rail. The Ghan was named after the Afghan Camelle`s, who traversed the harsh desert country of Northern Territory of Australia. the Ghan starts its journey in the south of Adelaide. Traveling north through sweeping plains then to the Red Centre of Alice Springs. Then onto the tropical top end of Dawin. A journey of 2,979 kilometres (1846 miles). It is called one of the great train journey of the world.
