| Bolivia doesn't have a lot of ski-facilities, but near its capital, La Paz, they do have the heighest ski-accomodation in the world, lying on the slopes of the Chacaltaya. The top lies at an altitude of 5300m. Starting point for skiers, alpinists and visitors is the Club Andino Boliviano, which can be reached by terraincar over roads like these. In summer, the top can be reached on foot, delivering a splendid view over the region, reaching as far as the Titicaca Lake, 40km away. |
