The Bjarnarflag Power Station is the first and oldest Icelandic geothermal power station and one of the first of its kind in the world. It is located near lake Mývatn and Mt Námafjall. The Námafjall high-temperature geothermal area lies within the fissure swarm of the Krafla volcanic system. It is characterised by boiling mudpools and steaming fumaroles.
