The Fageda d’En Jordà is an old-grown beech forest encompassed within the Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park, located in Girona, northern Catalonia. Its main particularity is that it grows on volcanic soils and is found at a relatively low altitude, which is unusual for beech forests in Catalonia, mostly found in mountainous areas such as the Pyrenees and the Montseny massif. Despite being officially protected, the Fageda d’En Jordà suffers from a very high touristic pressure, especially at peak seasons such as Easter holidays, summer and early autumn.
